A Small Realisation Over a Coffee
"Make me understand the numbers", asked by her.
I said, "It is obvious but what you want to calculate."
She said,"I am confused, how are you calculating. It is not possible. I am not wasting so much."
I told the small calculation orally.
"We will calculate in hours. Then I will go into minutes what I post in FB. Sleeping of 6-7 hours is more than enough. In higher side we will take 7 hours."
"OK. Yes, that is true."
"Job for 9-10 hours considering little over time."
"Yes"
"Let's consider travel in Bangalore traffic as 3 hours."
"Hmm"
"Total is 20 hours."
"Yes, Getting ready, food, shopping etc another 2 hours"
"Yes", I said,"Still we have one more hour. It means 60 minutes more per day,considering weekend also I am working. But in weekend .... "
She stopped me in between," Ya, but"
"Yes, but..." I asked and stopped so that the calculation to sink in her mind.
Silence for sometime.
She said," Yes, Now I understand how I am wasting my Time."
"Let's understand in minute. Take out your Mobile and open calculator app."
"Ok, calculator is on"
"Multiply 60 with 24 and 365 with that."
" Ok. 60 minutes multiple by 24 hours and multiply by 365 days is 525600."
I said,"This much time ,we get every year on 00:00 hours when we say "Happy new year" to others."
"Haan"(means yes)
"That was my post only. How I am going to spend depends on me now."
"Yeeees, I now understand." With eyes open widely.
"Now just Calculate, what is your per hour worth"
"Means.."
"Total salary per month divided 30 days and divide by 24 hours."
"No...Only 60...."
"Wait. Now calculate only working hours. 22 days and 9 hours per day."
"218 rs Around"
"Only 218 Rs. Just think, are you worth of 218 rs only?" I asked the question to make her understand the value. Her per hour is 218 Rs, not she. But the question made her thinking.
"No, but..."
"From Ya, but to No, but... " I just gave a small smile.
She went on thinking mode again.
"Now Think, how can we increase that from 218 to 2000?" I said.
"That one hour has to be used properly with weekends extra hours." She started taking the correct thinking process.
"Hmm"
"Only 218."
"Yes." I gain smiled. "You are not able to take it still."
"No, How can it be? I will calculate once again"
"Yes do."
"Same again"
"It will not change. We are calculating on your gross, we have not considered the deductions."
"Haaan, yaar. NO. That means it will come down further"
"Yes. Have coffee. it is getting cold"
"Ruk na."(Wait) She continued saying,"Yes, what Are you telling is correct. I am to do something. Really, I am wasting lots of time." She took a sip without putting sugar in it. "Oh, I forgot to put sugar."
"Yes Put some sugar to your life and make it more sweet. Do not waist."
